Mike Kadlick
After a successful two-year tenure, Will Wade is leaving McNeese State University to become the head coach at NC State, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello and initially reported by Joe Giglio of OG Media. During his time at McNeese, Wade compiled an impressive 49-8 record and led the team to back-to-back Southland Conference titles. His No. 12-seeded Cowboys are scheduled to face No. 5-seeded Clemson Tigers, Wade's alma mater, in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.
At 42, Wade has also coached the Chattanooga Mocs, VCU Rams, and LSU Tigers, maintaining winning records at each institution. His tenure at LSU ended after the 2021-22 season due to recruiting violations. He steps in at NC State following the dismissal of head coach Kevin Keatts after a challenging 12-19 season.
